Warli is one of India's oldest tribal art forms — deceptively simple white figures built from circles, triangles and lines, depicting daily life, harvest and dance. Its monochrome, minimalist look makes it one of the easiest traditional art forms to style in contemporary homes. At BestOfBharat, our Warli collection brings this tribal heritage to your walls as gallery-quality, hand-framed pieces, ready to hang.
Warli painting uses a basic geometric vocabulary — a circle for the sun and moon, a triangle for mountains and trees, and a square for sacred enclosures. Human and animal figures are formed from two triangles joined at the tip. Traditionally painted in white rice paste on earthy, mud-toned backgrounds, the style is striking in its simplicity.
The tradition belongs to the Warli tribe of the North Sahyadri range in Maharashtra, near the Gujarat border, and dates back many centuries. Historically painted on the walls of village homes to mark harvests and weddings, it is now celebrated as a defining example of Indian tribal art.
Warli art celebrates community and nature: the tarpa dance shows villagers spiralling around a musician, symbolising the circle of life; scenes of farming, hunting and fishing depict harmony with the land; and the recurring circle honours the sun and moon. The result is art that feels both ancient and quietly joyful.
Our collection reproduces classic Warli scenes — the tarpa dance, tree of life and village life panels — on archival-grade material, hand-framed and delivered ready to hang. Each design comes in multiple sizes and frame finishes to suit living rooms, studies and bedrooms.
Because Warli is monochrome and minimal, it works almost anywhere — a calm accent in the living room, a grounding piece in a study or home office, or a subtle set along a hallway. Its earthy palette pairs especially well with neutral, Scandinavian and boho interiors.
Hang at eye level, around 57–60 inches from the floor. Warli's simplicity shines against plain white or beige walls, and looks elegant in slim black or natural-wood frames. It also works beautifully as a set of two or three for a gallery effect without visual clutter.
Each design is printed on archival-grade material for colour longevity, hand-framed in our own facility and quality-checked before dispatch. Every piece is non-toxic, ready to hang, and shipped safely across India.
You get handcrafted-quality reproductions of a timeless tribal tradition, premium framing, a choice of sizes and pan-India delivery, from a catalogue spanning India's richest art forms. Explore the Warli collection to bring understated tribal elegance to your walls.
